• TheRussianTiger, Jeffrey Vinokur, started dancing in 2007 and founded this website in 2009 to help pay for his enrollment as a Biochemistry student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After one year of working hard to create easy-to-follow popping instructionals, and strong support from his YouTube fans, Jeffrey has been able to support himself through college and wants to give back to YOU! Four different scholarships and sponsorships are available to dancers like you. There is no age limit and no purchase necessary -- apply today!

TheRussianTiger College Scholarship

Amount: $500 USD Number of award given out: 1 Application deadline: Jan 15, 2011 This award is for a high school student entering college or an enrolled college student who is passionate about dancing and is pursuing a career in a field outside of dance. TheRussianTiger is a passionate dancer, but is pursuing a career as a research scientist. Application is completed through the attached document and interview. Dance Crew Sponsorship

Amount: $250 USD Number of award given out: 3 Application deadline: Jan 15, 2011 This sponsorship award is for a dance crew in need of financial help. The money in this sponsorship can go to paying for practice space in a studio, putting on a showcase event, or crew shirts. Application is by YouTube video and written application below. Decisions are need based and not skill based. Crews receiving the sponsorship are required to give back to the community by doing free workshops once a month. Unique Styles YouTube Sponsorship

Amount: $250 USD Number of award given out: 3 Application deadline: Jan 15th 2011 Decision within 14 days This sponsorship is designed to help give people all around the world access to unique dance styles such as LOCKING, HOUSE, and WHAACKING. YouTube has many videos teaching basic popping which makes it accessible all around the world. Many unique dance styles such as HOUSE, LOCKING, and WHAACKING have very little to no instruction available online. This sponsorship is an incentive for qualified dancers to post basic tutorials on YouTube in a rare dance style. Highest priority styles are HOUSE, WHAACKING, and LOCKING. Other hip hop & funk styles are also considered and encouraged! Please contact if you teach a unique style. Event Sponsorships

Amount: $250 USD Number of award given out: 3 Application deadline: Jan 15th 2011 Decision within 14 days This sponsorship is designed to support dance events: Mainly battles, showcases, and workshops but not limited to those. Event must have popping battles or a popping showcase. It is mainly intended to help with the costs of first-year events with the hopes that admission revenue from the first year will cover the upfront costs of the second year. This sponsorship will also support established recurring events as long as a NEED is demonstrated. (Breakin events that also feature popping battles are considered.)
